San Juan Pop-Up en Río Piedras: Vibrant Boost for Local Entrepreneurs

San Juan’s new Pop-up initiative on Paseo de Diego in Río Piedras is a dynamic pilot project by the city municipality, inaugurated by Mayor Miguel Romero. It provides five hand-picked small businesses with six months of rent-free space in a high-foot-traffic pedestrian corridor—meant to incubate local creativity and commerce, with the intention of transitioning these ventures into permanent storefronts. Participating brands include handcrafted jewelry (Ural Studio), artisanal rum (Ron Artesano), premium teas (T Love Cup), local art and crafts (Mikeyla Jerian Art), and hand-painted clothing and ceramics (Believe by Maritza)

By transforming Paseo de Diego into a community-focused marketplace, this initiative aims to foster cultural identity, support entrepreneurship, and revitalize Río Piedras as a creative urban hub. A $100 million investment in the district backs it, with plans to roll out the model in other parts of San Juan. The project was designed in partnership with Bloomberg Associates to ensure its sustainable and strategic impact
